Our most popular hands-on class is back! You will learn an easy and delicious 30-minute mozzarella recipe that works with grocery store cow milk and can be adapted to goat milk if desired. Learn what milks work best for this recipe and why, and then have some hands-on fun as we stretch the curd to create (and then eat!) a deliciously fresh and flavorful warm mozzarella. We’ll also make a quick, fresh ricotta and then combine these two wonderful cheeses into an easy burrata – a tasty stuffed mozzarella treat!
Each pair of students will get to make a one-gallon pot of their own mozzarella (makes about a pound of cheese). If you’d like to add a third person to your group, you will split this batch of cheese. You will also receive the virtual recorded version of this class afterwards to refer back to as needed.
At the end of class, we’ll head down to the barnyard to visit with our friendly herd of Nubian Dairy Goats, including the spring babies! You can interact with them as much as you’d like and take lots of pictures.
The cheesemaking portion of this class will be taught indoors while the goat visits will be outdoors so please plan accordingly. When indoors, in accordance with current CDC recommendations, we ask that unvaccinated guests wear masks. For vaccinated guests, masks are optional (our instructors are fully vaccinated). When outdoors, please be prepared for weather changes and possible muddy paddocks!
(NOTE: If you’d like to add a third person to your group for an additional $65, email email@example.com and she will send you an invoice for the extra guest.)
