This is a rare chance for aspiring cheesemakers to get a glimpse at what it’s like to work in a professional creamery.  Before the official cheesemaking season begins, we get to use the creamery space to learn how to make one of the Dolly Mama’s Farmstead Goat Cheese specialties, Chevre!  This is a fresh goat cheese that is usually shaped into a log and flavored a variety of way and you’ll learn all the steps the pros take to bring this delicious cheese to market.  This class will require time on your feet (pros don’t sit down on make days) and you’ll find out what set up and clean up is required when you make cheese to sell.  But rest-assured the effort is worth it and you’ll get to taste some delicious examples of this amazing fresh cheese when we’re done.

After class, we’ll go out and meet the infamous Dolly Mama herself along with all the other goats whose milk goes into this new creamery’s artisan cheeses, including a few of the girls we brought over from our original location at Briar Gate Farm.  And it’s kidding season on the farm so yes, there will be lots of baby goats to snuggle with at the end!
