Goat Cheese 101 and Visiting with Goats at Sandstone Ranch in Longmont – 3:00 pm
July 15 @ 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm$25.00
Join us for a special Goats & Cheese Event! Kate Johnson from The Art of Cheese and Briar Gate Farm will be conducting this Cheese making 101 class. You’ll learn the basic science behind cheese making while seeing specifically how to make Chevre, the most well-known of the goat cheeses. This is a relatively easy cheese that you can learn to make yourself, even if you don’t own a goat! You’ll leave this class with the know-how and recipes to make your own delicious chevre (or chevre-style) cheese at home! While watching this interactive cheese making class you’ll also get to sample several varieties of Haystack Mountain’s award winning chevres. And as a special bonus, when we’re all done with the class and the cheese sampling we’ll go outside and meet some of the goats who were the inspiration for Kate’s cheesemaking journey. Watch a live milking demonstration and get a chance to play with a few of her sweet baby goats.
