Hot on the heels of The Art of Cheese’s First Cheesemaking Contest, now is the time to start planning your cheese entries for the Boulder County Fair! The fair is held at the Longmont fairgrounds July 31-August 9.
In county fair terminology, here are a few things you need to know:
- You’ll enter your homemade cheese in Department 105 Pantry Store/Food Preservation. The Pantry Store department includes canning, dehydrating, and homemade beer, wine and cheese.
- There are 3 cheese classes (areas of competition): adult, teen, pre-teen.
- There are 27 cheese lots (or categories, for different types of cheeses).
Cash prizes are awarded to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in each lot.
Grand Champion and Reserve Champion ribbons are awarded to each class.
Important Dates
Submit your entry form by June 26 to avoid a $5 late charge. Entries can be mailed, dropped off in person, or submitted online.
Your $5 entry fee lets you enter up to 10 cheeses!
Drop off your homemade cheese entries July 29th, 4-7 PM. Judging is the next day.
